Italian Fashion: Welcome to PITTI GENERATION(S)

Moda Pitti

Italian Fashion: the title-theme of Pitti Uomo 89 (12-15 Jan 2016) will talk about the “coexistence” of different generations in today’s fashions and styles.

“Pitti Generation(s) is the guiding theme for the January shows”, says Agostino Poletto, vice-CEO of Pitti Immagine, “and it will look at the simultaneity of the many different generations in fashion and styles of today. The speed of contemporary life compresses and mixes personal and generational time, taking in nostalgic references and experimentation, in a global action that goes beyond borders. In this way, Pitti Generation(s) will give an ironic, lightweight look at an era where age is increasingly more a mental attitude than a number, with mature men in jeans and Tees and youngsters with Victorian-style beards and a passion for vintage.”

With set design by Oliviero Baldini, the Fortezza da Basso will welcome visitors with installations and surprising contaminations of art and performance, transforming the Piazzale in front of the Central Pavilion, the façade of the Lyceum and other key points inside the Fortezza for an unprecedented representation of the generations. Time, styles and different genres will emerge in an eclectic mix, all under the ironic, surreal gaze of eyes that with their “blinking” will entertain in the courtyard outside the Central Pavilion. And the Fortezza da Basso will also be the exceptional venue for a special event that will provide a surprising launch for the Pitti Generation(s) theme.

The new Pitti Uomo digital art project is by Pasquale Abbattista
Pitti Immagine continues its collaboration with talented film producers in the realisation of the digital art project that will launch the theme of the shows. The new video interprets Pitti Generation(s) through the morphing technique, alternating and overlapping famous faces from the international fashion system. With direction and photography by Pasquale Abbattista, editing by Hi!Production and supervision by Max Brun, this digital art project will also be linked to an important charity project. The fees paid to the stars of the video will be donated to the Meyer Children’s Hospital in Florence and the ASP Montedomini, two institutions in Florence that look after and assist children and the elderly, respectively.

PITTI GENERATION(S) presents
the collection of objects by Seletti and Toiletpaper
To celebrate Pitti Generation(s) there will also be a special collection of iconic and evergreen objects, a project realized in cooperation with the Italian design brand Seletti and with Toiletpaper, Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari’s cult magazine.
The common thread of Seletti Wears Toiletpaper is black humor dipped in pastel colors, and democratic, familiar materials combined with unexpected images and a pop mood.
